Hello, thanks for viewing my site
My Story
I loved to draw from an early age, spending hours carefully recreating the pictures from the horse books I had and drawing people and pets from life, books and magazines. This led to my love of art and particularly graphite pencil drawings, due to the range of marks and tones that can be produced using different pencils, strokes and techniques. I love the way pencils can be used to express different textures, fabrics, hair, fur and skin so beautifully.
Apart from an Art O’level, I am self-taught, as my career went along a different path. However, I have continued to draw and paint throughout my life, including supporting children at my local school with drawing portraits and taking part in small exhibitions. I have been drawing pencil portraits and painting for many years, initially for myself, friends and family members, then as commissions. Seeing the pleasure my portraits give is a huge joy for me and I am constantly learning new ways to enhance and develop my work.
I live with my husband and two dogs in the beautiful Forest of Dean, which is a constantly-changing inspiration for landscape paintings and provides us with a range of walks and views to lift the soul. The stunning scenery, trees and flowers have made their way into a number of my acrylic and oil paintings.
I hope you enjoy looking at my artwork as much as I enjoyed creating it. I am friendly and reliable so please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have an enquiry.
Best wishes
Helen
